All Gallatin County students and staff will be in attendance tomorrow, Thursday, January 18, 2024. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather warning that Gallatin County is on the Northwest edge of possible freezing rain or freezing drizzle that could begin around 2-3 p.m. tomorrow. Freezing rain or drizzle will cause immediately hazardous roads and create dangerous travel conditions for us to get students and drivers home safely. We will watch the forecast and only dismiss school if necessary for everyone's safety; we need you to prepare for the worst. So please make arrangements should we need to send students home early due to this freezing weather front coming into our area. The after-school program will be canceled tomorrow. Also, any extra-curricular games will be canceled. Thank you for your patience and understanding. NOTE: Students please dress warm and wear your coats. Come on, Spring!

The FAFSA, (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is something that all graduating Seniors need to fill out if they plan on attending a College, University or Trade School next year. In addition, the FAFSA completion or the completion of State Non-Participation form must be done to meet an Illinois Graduation Requirement. Currently, there is no date for the FAFSA to become available, however when it is announced, we will be planning a FAFSA completion night here at the high school. To prepare for that, I have begun meeting with students to help them get ID's in order to complete the FAFSA process. Both students and parents will need there ID's and I have will be posting the link to the information you will need in order to create those ID's. These ID's must be made and verified several days ahead of actually completing the FAFSA forms. https://studentaid.gov/help-center/answers/article/how-to-create-fsa-id-username-password Again we will have a FAFSA completion night here at the school, but that date will be announced later.

Illinois State Representative Patrick Windhorst visited this group of outstanding readers today. They all completed his Summer Reading Club by reading at least 8 books over the summer. They received a certificate, a coupon for free custard at Culver's, and a coupon for donuts from Krispy Kreme. We always enjoy when he comes to talk to our kids and recognize their achievements. The students who participated include: Dallas Glaser, Evelyn Mann, Logan Martin, Hazel Dobyns, Haidyn Dobyns, Jameson Drone, Jackson Drone, Asher Pierce, Jason Wollard, and Mason Wollard.
