Three weeks down! Our students and staff have done such a great job adjusting to the new policies and procedures to ensure student safety throughout the building while maintaining an effective and positive learning environment. I appreciate each and every student for adjusting so well to all of the changes we have thrown their way. You guys rock! Keep up the good work and the positive attitudes! Also, a reminder that there is no school Monday, September 7, in honor of Labor Day. Enjoy your long weekend and come back Tuesday refreshed and ready for another week! #hawkpride -Mrs. Mitchell

Just a few important reminders for my elementary students: 1. If you have a child in kindergarten and haven’t sent a copy of a certified birth certificate, please do so as soon as possible. You can fax it to 618-272-4101 attention Tami, you can send a copy with your student, or you can email me a picture of it to tlogsdon@gallatincusd7.com. 2. Please make sure you have all health requirements turned in to our school nurse as soon as possible. This would include things such as school physical forms, shot records, dental exam forms, and eye exams. 3. Please note: registration forms and health requirement forms ARE REQUIRED for virtual students. If you are enrolled through the school in any form, all guidelines must be met. 4. If you have a child that has a symptom and is staying home, all siblings must stay home too. 5. Virtual learners must sign in and complete assignments daily. If you are not signing in and doing required work by the assigned due date, it will be turned over to the truancy officer as if you were absent. If you are having difficulties or if you have a question, please email your student’s teacher.

Hello Parents! We are diligently working to continue improving our drop off and pick up process. As most of you know, in elementary, we have given each child that is a car rider a laminated sign with their name on it for the front passenger side of the windshield. We are aware that some families have multiple people that pick up your student. If you need more than one sign, please contact the elementary office at (618) 272-3821 ext. 1308. Or you can email me at tlogsdon@gallatincusd7.com and let me know how many signs you need. We are very pleased with how pick up/drop off is going. But please remember, when you are pulling up go ahead and pull all the way up to the elementary doors. Please do not block the white crosswalk in front of the elementary handicap ramp. Thank you for your cooperation!

Due to the restraints of the amount of students allowed inside a bus at one time, spacing that is required, Gallatin County School will not be able to accommodate any bus passes. We apologize for this inconvenience but the students safety and health must be our first concern. Bus passes that are on the same bus just a different location will be permitted if approved by administration. For example, whatever bus your child rides to school will be the bus they ride home. They cannot ride one bus to school and a different bus home. However, if your child is a drop off in the morning by a parent and they need to ride the bus to a different location besides home in the afternoon that is possible. But it will be for the entire week. The reasoning behind this is IF a child were to be quarantined for symptoms, contact would be limited to one bus instead of multiple busses. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter as we try to keep our students safe and healthy. If you have questions please contact your building administrator.

August 21, 2020 Gallatin County School District has made the decision to open our school for in-classroom instruction starting Monday, August 24. Our Return to School Plan will continue which includes both an in person and virtual learning component. School will begin at 8:00 am and end at 2:00 pm and with buses leaving the district at 2:15 each day. Due to limited riders to a bus we cannot allow bus notes. We know the process of reopening and adapting to a combination of in-person and online instruction and a host of new procedures will be challenging. But, as we have throughout this ordeal, we will work together, persevere, and make sure our students are supported in every way possible. That support begins with you at home. If your child has COVID-19 or is exhibiting any symptoms, please follow all IDPH and CDC guidelines relating to their care and keep them home from school. As we have shared previously, we are following ISBE, IDPH and CDC guidelines maintaining physical distancing, wearing face coverings, and screening individuals before they enter the bus and building. We want to take this time to thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. We will do everything we can to keep our students and staff safe and share updates with you as we move forward. We are looking forward to seeing our students! Sincerely, Judy Kaegi, Superintendent

Gallatin CUSD #7 would like to welcome the newest members to our teaching staff.
Students, Parents and Guardians: The Gallatin County Board of Education decided during last night's meeting to give teachers an additional Remote Learning Plan Day on August 14th, therefore, students will not be in attendance this day. Administrators are working on schedules to bring back 20 percent of each class Monday through Friday August 17-21. The student schedules will be emailed to each student on Monday, and the student’s homeroom teacher will also contact them on Tuesday, August 11, to confirm which day they should return to school. This will also allow Mr. Holloway, our Technology Director, time to inventory every device given to students and allow teachers to have a small group of students to teach Google Classroom and school safety practices which have been put in place. Students will receive practice remote assignments and learn how to use Google Meets. Teachers will also do a practice google meets session with the class. This initial short term low percentage of students will allow Gallatin County Schools and the local health department to gain a better understanding of our county’s COVID 19 situation and look at the current trends in our area before students fully return to the classrooms. The board will have a special meeting on August 20 to discuss the current COVID trends in collaboration with the local health department to decide if a full return is possible or a remote start would be a better option at that time. This situation is evolving and we will do our best to keep our staff, parents, and community members informed. To best protect our school community we must stay flexible and make decisions based on the most current information. . Please be patient as this is new territory for all of us! The safety of the students, staff and our community is our first priority. Please take care, we will be in touch through email and phone calls soon.
