Expectations for Parents of Remote Learners Correspondence with teachers should be done by email during the hours of 7:45 a.m.-3:15 p.m. daily. Teachers will post office hours when they are available for correspondence. Teachers will attempt to respond to email and phone calls from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. daily. (It may take 24 hrs to get a response from teachers.) If a parent would like to call a teacher or vice versa they should do so from 2:15 p.m.-3:15 p.m. Teachers will not be able to answer calls before this time due to the fact that they have students in their classrooms and cannot be distracted with phone calls prior to 2:15 p.m. Teachers will post assignments by 9:30 a.m. each day. Remote learners should do their homework and turn it in by the assigned due date. Any assignments posted after 9:30 a.m. are due the next day. If they do not turn in homework by the assigned due date it will be counted as a zero. Remote learners should attend Google meets as often as possible. If a remote learner cannot show up to a Google meet, they MUST email the teacher with a reason. If the internet is a problem during the day, the remote learner must notify the teacher as soon as possible so other arrangements can be made. Parents and students should check Parent Connect for grades. Grades on Google classroom do not reflect students’ full grade.

*Shout Out Friday* Our Gallatin County secretaries are the BEST! We are so thankful for all of the EXTRA hard work they have put into this crazy year. They answer tons of phone calls and emails as well as keep up with the day to day tasks that must be done to keep our buildings running smoothly. They truly make our district better. #hawkpride

Picture day is set for Friday, Sept. 11th for all Gallatin County students. Picture forms have been sent home with Elementary and Jr. High students and will be going home with High School on Tuesday. We invite the remote learners to come in to have their picture taken. Remote learners will enter through the gym doors where they will have their temperature checked. Masks are required and will be worn until it is time to have their picture taken. Parents are asked to remain outside, as we will have school staff at the doors to assist. ICONIK employees will be wearing PPE and the remote students will be isolated from the in person learners during the picture process. Order forms will be available, but we highly suggest ordering online at iconikstudio.com. These pictures will be used for the 20/21 school yearbook. Photographers will be available for remote students from 8am-10am on Sept. 11th. We look forward to seeing your smiles!

Three weeks down! Our students and staff have done such a great job adjusting to the new policies and procedures to ensure student safety throughout the building while maintaining an effective and positive learning environment. I appreciate each and every student for adjusting so well to all of the changes we have thrown their way. You guys rock! Keep up the good work and the positive attitudes! Also, a reminder that there is no school Monday, September 7, in honor of Labor Day. Enjoy your long weekend and come back Tuesday refreshed and ready for another week! #hawkpride -Mrs. Mitchell

Just a few important reminders for my elementary students: 1. If you have a child in kindergarten and haven’t sent a copy of a certified birth certificate, please do so as soon as possible. You can fax it to 618-272-4101 attention Tami, you can send a copy with your student, or you can email me a picture of it to tlogsdon@gallatincusd7.com. 2. Please make sure you have all health requirements turned in to our school nurse as soon as possible. This would include things such as school physical forms, shot records, dental exam forms, and eye exams. 3. Please note: registration forms and health requirement forms ARE REQUIRED for virtual students. If you are enrolled through the school in any form, all guidelines must be met. 4. If you have a child that has a symptom and is staying home, all siblings must stay home too. 5. Virtual learners must sign in and complete assignments daily. If you are not signing in and doing required work by the assigned due date, it will be turned over to the truancy officer as if you were absent. If you are having difficulties or if you have a question, please email your student’s teacher.

Hello Parents! We are diligently working to continue improving our drop off and pick up process. As most of you know, in elementary, we have given each child that is a car rider a laminated sign with their name on it for the front passenger side of the windshield. We are aware that some families have multiple people that pick up your student. If you need more than one sign, please contact the elementary office at (618) 272-3821 ext. 1308. Or you can email me at tlogsdon@gallatincusd7.com and let me know how many signs you need. We are very pleased with how pick up/drop off is going. But please remember, when you are pulling up go ahead and pull all the way up to the elementary doors. Please do not block the white crosswalk in front of the elementary handicap ramp. Thank you for your cooperation!

Due to the restraints of the amount of students allowed inside a bus at one time, spacing that is required, Gallatin County School will not be able to accommodate any bus passes. We apologize for this inconvenience but the students safety and health must be our first concern. Bus passes that are on the same bus just a different location will be permitted if approved by administration. For example, whatever bus your child rides to school will be the bus they ride home. They cannot ride one bus to school and a different bus home. However, if your child is a drop off in the morning by a parent and they need to ride the bus to a different location besides home in the afternoon that is possible. But it will be for the entire week. The reasoning behind this is IF a child were to be quarantined for symptoms, contact would be limited to one bus instead of multiple busses. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter as we try to keep our students safe and healthy. If you have questions please contact your building administrator.
